AGITPROP INTERVIEWS

Eddie Edwards

Eddie Edwards is a celebrity illusionist, singer, performer and LGBT Icon. I really wanted to talk to Eddie after connecting through social media and seeing the success of his show with his twin brother, who perform as the Edwards Twins. Hearing some history about the drag world and finding out about how our language has changed, I was so touched and blown away by his kind words and I loved this interview.

LINDA MASON

Linda Mason is an iconic makeup artist, painter, cosmetic designer and her journey actually began as a model. She was a British beauty that travelled the world, and for me, she was one of the pioneers of the type of career I have today. I was honoured and touched when she agreed to be interviewed because her work as a makeup artist really changed the game, the trends we see on runways and the power of being a creative director of high end beauty lines changes the visuals we see in the world. To discuss her history and her current projects as a painter was an honour.

MOMMA CHERRI

Momma Cherri’s is an incredible chef, a singer and someone who I grew up thinking of as a Brighton icon. Being featured on Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares in the early UK season, she was the one and only chef that impressed Gordon to the extent where he cleaned his plate. Her restaurants in Brighton was so popular when I was young that I wanted to connect with her and talk through her journey and her love of spirituality. It was a fab chat and I was really happy she agreed to be a part of Agitprop Interviews.

SAL THE FOOD WITCH

I was really interested in connecting with some plant based chefs, and when I saw Sal’s intuitive cooking style and beautiful vegan dishes, I had to ask her to be a part of Agitprop Interviews. It was awesome to talk through some cultural and spiritual reasons why food makes such a big impact on us. I was really happy when we discussed how our grandmothers had both influenced our favourite recipes and it was an amazing chat.

COCO PERU

I was so nervous to interview drag legend Coco Peru because as many of you are aware, she is a master interviewer. Some of the most awesome guests have been on Coco’s show and they’ve raised a huge amount of visibility and funding for LGBT causes. I was keen to discuss the concept of two spirit with Coco and talk about how language and the LGBT world has changed. I also wanted to quiz her on her amazing career in film and stage, and how she feels drag race has influenced the world of drag.

SUE TILLEY

Every opportunity that I could learn more about the blitz kids and London’s party scene, I was there. I watched every tv show growing up, every radio interview and every article. When I got the opportunity to chat to Sue Tilley, I was so excited because in all my years of London nightlife we’d never crossed paths. I was really interested to hear about how she worked both as a benefits agent in London whilst being in the midst of the clubs, it seemed quite polarised but when talking to Sue I understood fully how the two met in the middle. I also wanted to hear the story of her legendary painting by Freud, and a little bit about her best friend Leigh Bowery.

LOHANI NOOR

Lohani is an incredible therapist, champion bodybuilder and was featured on BBC’s Sex on the Couch. I have a fascination with therapy and I think everyone should be able to seek out help in that way, with confidence, so when I watched the couples therapy that Lohani was a part of, it was just amazing and I reached out to her to be interviewed for Agitprop. Talking through gender roles and our experiences it was a really insightful and powerful chat about life and her story.

Nora Herold

For some time now, I have been fascinated by spiritual healers and guides and when YouTube started, it was like a rabbit hole for me because I got to listen to podcasts and interviews from a massive range of intuitive people. Nora stood out by a country mile, she was so astute and empathetic when connecting with people and her ability to channel other entities was something that blew my mind. I had been a fan of the Seth books and I’d also been interested to find out the backstory of the secret, the power of manifestation. That came from a channel who is very much popularised by the Oprah show, Abraham Hicks. I never connected with this channel and I later found out that she had met with a second channel called Sheila Gillette, who was quietly providing insight. Out of all the people that I have listened to who channel, Nora and one of her oldest friends Wendy Kennedy, were the most powerful. I really wanted to just connect with Nora so when we did this interview and she was so lovely to me and channeled the Pleadian collective, I was really fangirling out because this stuff is amazing. She’s a healer, a political advocate and a brilliant intuitive so check out this fascinating interview.

Kola Boof

I have been great friends with Kola for some time, and during our years online, I have seen her educate and reprimand a battalion of social media advocates for their missteps. Her knowledge as a historian on African history as well as her love for film, she was a writer for many of the US largest soaps, is just the tip of the iceberg. During her career as a writer, Kola documented her imprisonment by terrorist Osama Bin Ladin in her book, Diary of a Lost Girl, which I read and loved many years ago. Though she was at first dismissed by the media, the book rang as a testimony and the information she provided was proved to be truth, so it has been a tough yet fascinating tale. We’ve always connected because at our core, we are softies and we care about all people, and I completely look up to Kola on her brilliant, poetic descriptors of black culture. She has interviewed many times and people are often amazed by her knowledge of black history, her comic book Volcano Woman gave western audiences an insight into African mythos and imagery. She has such varied work and it was a privilege to talk through her journey.
