Brighton Vegan Festival - All the Treats

Hey everyone!

I recently attended the Vegan Festival Brighton and wanted to give you a bit of the behind the scenes on some of the features that I thought stood out the most. I really wanted to learn about other brands and produce, things that I was unfamiliar with and get a feel of the type of businesses to attend these conventions.

Agitprop has always been something that I wanted to inspire people to live in a vegan lifestyle, not just for animal welfare but for health and one thing that I wanted to do, was not bring you crazy gourmet recipes but give you homely dishes that anyone could make on any budget. Simple things that were not scary. But you can get any type of food there is, period as a vegan alternative and the number of stalls that I saw and went around at this event was amazing. There were so many beautiful cakes, there was a very busy Greek Vegan Deli stall that was queued so much I couldn’t get a photo.

There were a plethora of beautiful ingredient type stalls including one that really stood out to me, they had samples of cashew type cheese spreads and some parmesan alternatives, that was Good Carma Foods and the parmesan was absolutely awesome. If you wanted to have something that has a kick to it, they have chili cheese and it was really tasty.

I think a lot of vegan companies start off very small and when I emailed this company after the event to ask if I could feature them on here, I was really touched because I got the feeling that it was a passion project and I just wanted you guys to find their stuff as well. Defo check out if you want a great vegan alternative to cheese.

Next there was a whole onslaught of delicious more cute style pastries and chocolate cakes from a company called Cocolico, they did macaroon looking things and all kinds of treats. I asked to try some of Katie’s Tonix which was a range of different savoury drinks that were sort of hard to explain in terms of flavor, they were fermented and reminiscent of kamboocha but they each had totally individual blends. The one that I liked the most was actually the Beetkvass which was a bit more umami and reminded me of tomato juice? But beetroot in flavour haha.

Another stand out to me was Raw Treats Boutique as I am a massive fan of raw chocolate and basically the lady created this blend that comes in sachets as a dry mix, you combine them with coconut oil and a honey or maple syrup if you’re specific about animal produce, and they roll into these fudgy, sort of datey energy balls that are so reminiscent of me being in school. When I was actually doing my foundation I used to grab the cocoa balls from Infinity Foods in Brighton on my lunch break and they are such a nice treat for anyone wanting a change to chocolate.

It was a super fun event and I definitely recommend. Let me know your favorite vegan events in the comments below!
