Aveda Spa Treats

Hey everyone!

I had the opportunity to open Estee Lauders ERG in the lockdown with the VP’s of the brands, which was amazing because I got to share more of my story with the people who are running the show. I was met with a lot of amazing support and Aveda offered me a spa experience at their London Academy in Holborn, just near where I went to Uni!

I booked in the treatments during the pandemic and sadly beauty was shut for the beginning, so they all had to be rearranged to the next available slot when things opened. But I didn’t mind waiting because the stress of all the pandemic needed to be worked out and the timing was perfect. The Academy is mostly known for hair, and it’s a very busy place just off the high street. I remember walking past it so many times when studying and thinking, wow is there like an actual academy inside this glass building? It reminded me of a greenhouse or a museum.

The layout is basically like an Aveda Boutique with some fancy automated entry points, and then the til and many rooms of hair wizards doing all kinds of treatments, cuts, colours and more. I was offered a hair makeover but I don’t have my hair done by anyone else so I said, let’s try some of the massage experiences instead and focus on the Chakra realignment. I also was offered a facial, which I don’t love because I think people have misjudged my skin type so badly in the past, IE my experience with SK:N, that I’m wary. But I said sure, if we can book in the 90 minute Chakra Massage and the 45 Minute Facial, let’s go ahead in one sitting.

The downstairs is a very relaxed area with lots of Japanese inspired decor, I really enjoyed it because you would never have known that above you was this hive of activity. I waited in the seats for my practitioner and began to prepare to chill out, which was super easy as I don’t think I slept much the night before.

I was asked to get into the dress for the massage and I got to pick several cards which resonated most with my mood. I washed my feet in the bowl provided and then I was then given the option of some essential oils that were misted, and the masseuse was a lovely lady who guided me through the process.

The massage was exceptional, I am pretty robust and some of my massages I’ve had are never really working out the issues. But she was excellent and I felt very light and relaxed after. I had no idea 90 minutes had gone on before the facial began, which involved cleansing, steam, extraction and moisturising. It was all Aveda products and I came out glowing.

The Chakra Balancing massage would have cost £130 and the Skin Resurfacing facial £60. I strongly recommend if you’re a Londoner needing a relaxing refresh.
