Brighton Marina + Malmaison

Hey everyone!

I recently was invited to attend a PR launch in my home town for Kiss products, which are stick on nails and lashes that I’ve used for years in my kit. I’m a bit specific with what events I attend because I’m very lucky that I get most product launches with my makeup work but the location was somewhere that I’ve always wanted to check out for a review focus and that is the gorgeous Malmaison off of the Marina.

So I’m a Brighton baby, I was born here and went to school here before exploring other parts of the world, but this is an area I know like the back of my hand and I remember when the Marina was being built. We frequently had family meals down here and my grandad actually lives not too far, the Baron’s house he just sold was over the fields on the corner of Roedean and the other big house is on the seafront just about ten minutes walk, so I wanted to get some nice photos of the area for Agitprop. So the event was really cool, it had a lot of Instagram style influencers and it truly boggles my mind how like people have all started to have their own social media because I still am reminiscent of the days when it was for alternative people. It’s so strange to see so many people building their business ideas from apps but I salute it, I think it’s a fabulous era to create your own lane.

For me, moving into travel content was my main incentive to start Agitprop and I love the opportunity to give more of an LGBT perspective on things like hospitality that isn’t so nuanced, there’s really a void of stuff I would like to read so hopefully I can provide something that’s interesting and fun to read.

I was offered a manicure and I said yes to having some of the lovely nail designs put on and shaped, now these products I would say are more heavy duty than traditional stick on nails, they really last and the technician that did the application was lovely. We got talking and she shaped the nails to my type of look because I don’t actually wear anything on my nails at all. I’m doing some experiments with toxicity and I stopped doing nails about 2 years ago now, but I sometimes like to have a claw or two just to finish a look off and I thought, why not. Suns out, I’m in the heat and I want to try them. They were great.

They also offered lash applications but I was giving super boy so I grabbed my goodybag and liased with the PR and had a quick sneaky around the Malmaison. The hotel is a really beautiful location if you want to stay in Brighton because you can easily walk into town, but you feel a bit more secluded than being on the beach or in the lanes. I think it’s got a bit of a cool vibe because it’s off of the street level and you look over into the Marina. You are within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and a few shops, is it the heart of the city? No, but it’s a cute place to hang out and you can grab a cocktail. The rooms are a bit eclectic from what I’ve seen and I’d love to do a proper hotel review, so watch this space. But I thought I’d give you a bit of a taster.

Let me know what you think and whether you’d like a full review of the hotel suites below.
