Park Plaza Pride Menu

Hey everyone!

Thank you so much firstly, for all the love and support with Agitprop as you can imagine, it’s been a long and hard journey to provide all this content as it’s like redoing my entire Youtube work again in a new format. It’s taken months of prep and I’m very grateful for all the partnerships including Park Plaza who have gifted me fabulous opportunities to stay and visit these awesome locations.

So Park Plaza has a few Hotels within walking distance in London and the one that I was invited to stay in was the River Bank, I have a full blog about this suite here. This entry is specifically about their Pride stay as they prepared something fabulous for LGBT people to feel at home and have a real treat. My experience with ordering the menu was actually very difficult and I’ll cover that in my Hotel review but in terms of the actual breakfast, I’ll share my thoughts.

So the idea obviously was to make as much reference to the rainbow as possible for Pride season and I think this is quite a funny idea for stay at a lovely location. It makes people feel that their experience is catered to their needs and it was a touch of personality. But, I have to say the food was a very strange assortment for breakfast. So what we basically got that was specific to the Pride theme, was only the parts of the menu that were this elaborate spread, the traditional vegetarian breakfast or fruit was not part of it. I’m not actually sure to 100% what the menu was supposed to be but I’ll document that fully in the hotel review blog and talk about what I received here.

So we had a variety of juice shots, they ranged from what seemed to be a pink watermelon shot, a very green shot that was cucumber tasting and an orange shot, I thought they were a nice touch. They were the part that I really loved. Now I don’t know if this was all like a menu created as a hangover busting brunch or something, but the rest of the menu was just such a strange assortment of things that I couldn’t eat it. There was a burger sort of bun, that was cold but with a dry falafel type biscuit in it, and I just didn’t understand why it was on the same plate as the incredibly sweet and sugar-heavy donuts and cupcakes. Again on the separate square plate, as pictured above, there was a like macaroon style tower full of sugar icing next to a charcoal scone with hollandaise sauce. It was just so weird I was like not entirely sure what type of person would order breakfast with all those things combined let alone have them on the plates together. At least put the savoury together. I hate to be a critic because I didn’t create this blog to give negative reviews by any stretch of the imagination but it was just wacky in the wrong way.

If they wanted to create something that was rainbow-inspired, the shots were a beautiful touch and they would have done a fabulous wake me up to have a spirulina blue, a grapefruit, an orange, a green, a bitter lemon and a pomegranate shot - or something to get all those colours in something that was cohesive but people who tend to choose very raw, unsweetened health shots don’t eat cupcakes for breakfast.

So the part that was amazing was the vegetarian breakfast as they provided vegan sausages, grapefruit juice, eggs I left and some veg which was lovely. The other spread that I was given was a trey of croissants, some fruit I really loved and a cheese plate I left. I thought that overall if you wanted a treat for you and your partner and you wanted a specific Pride theme, it was a bit insane but again, the thought was there and I just think that had they got someone in to just go through the obvious, like you don’t neccesarily want a strawberry a cm away from an egg based sauce, they may have got a little bit more of a positive reaction. Overall I rated the Pride breakfast at 2 out of 5 and the traditional breakfast a 4 out of 5.

Let me know your strange experiences with Pride themed events or stays below.
