Correcting a Smile + Healthy Teeth

Hey guys!

So for some time I’ve been working on correcting my smile, and I had the opportunity to work with the incredible Dr Richards on some teeth whitening, and composite bonding. For me, it was very important to not have such an artificial looking smile because I’ve had braces for six years, which is a massive chunk of my life. It was not an easy journey, I started out when I was in school and had to work on loosening the muscles in my jaw. So essentially I had an overbite where my top teeth would be further forward than my lower jaw. When we did the correction with the first set of braces, it was a retainer that pushed the jaw into the right position. Then I had to go through train tracks, where they put bonds on each teeth with wires and tighten them up so that the teeth look in place.

My teeth were actually very big at the front two, but had very small adjoining teeth so it still looked to me off, and in my first ever Youtube videos they were awful. Now the thing I will say is that because I had such a significant change to my jaw, when the correction took place what it really worked on was my facial symmetry, which I have gone into detail many times on my surgery series. Had this been done properly, I don’t think I would have had as significant symmetry issues. In these photos I’ve actually kept them straight form camera, they aren’t flipped as I would normally do so you can see clearer.

So I went to consult with Dr Richards who offered to whiten my teeth up, I do this at home all the time with natural ingredients like turmeric and bicarbonate, I’ve got white teeth so it wasn’t a drastic change. But to have a proper clean up and polish was awesome and my teeth felt super healthy.

The next part is to add composite bonds to the two adjoining smaller teeth, so not the top ones in the middle, but the ones either side. I didn’t want a full set, I wanted just a balance, and we agreed that it would be a great start. You have to have two weeks between lightening your teeth and any type of bonds, so I waited and we popped back. I shall be showing you the full results in part two!
