The Lip Flip - Correcting a Diaganol Smile with Botox

Hey guys!

I wanted to go into my beauty series with a bit of a behind the scenes to my videos, showing a little bit more about the procedures I want to have done and the reason I want to have them. So I was first, looking to focus on Brighton for this month as it’s my home town, it’s the start of where Agitprop was born and it’s a place I really hold close to my heart. But I often think that people have this view of smaller towns as being less than, and Brighton is a strange place for all kinds of genius practitioners. I looked high and low and tried to find a really reputable injector who was competent in customizing botox treatments to my own design, which has always been extremely important in my work.

The clinic that I chose was Sarivaa Aesthetics because the look to the work wasn’t at all overdone. Sarivaa is a brilliant, friendly and homely practise that I was overjoyed to partner with on a video that I hadn’t seen many references to. This was the procedure called the ‘Lip Flip’. Now the way that this process is usually carried out, is you have the borders of the lips injected with botox to stop the muscles being able to form an ‘o’ shape and pull down. It’s normally four tiny injections and majorly small in dosage. For me, my concern as I’ve been open with since the get-go, has been symmetry. My lower jaw pulls diagonally away from my upper jaw, which is slightly slanted. So all the muscles in my lower face are totally uneven and when I approached Sarivaa, I explained that my goal wasn’t to lift my lip but to correct my smile. I identified the muscles I knew were pulling and asked to place botox in both, the right upper lifting muscle and the lower left pulling muscle.

What we decided was to combine the traditional lip lifting technique, to soften the pull and targeted injections in the opposing muscles. Long story short… it worked fantastically! The procedure didn’t hurt at all, I’ve noticed a massive change in the way I talk and move my mouth, my lips feel more symmetrical and definitely look more symmetrical so it was an excellent step. The usual process can retrain the way your face moves but this was a little extra, so if you are looking to manipulate your smile in a very strategic way then this one can work for you. One concern I will say is that botox lasts differently in different people, there are a variety of types of neurotoxic but botox is the norm that people understand, they all stop the movement of the muscles. For me, it stays for over a year. In most people, it is about 3-6 months. I don’t want to sell anyone any snake oil, I’m just giving a fully transparent approach to me so give it a test. If it’s not for you then chances are it will wear off.
