Revisits at the Ivy Brighton + Cocktails at Browns

Hey everyone!

So Brighton is always a bit of a repeat if you’ve lived here and whenever there is a new location, my mum and family get excited about visiting and The Ivy falls into one of those categories, it’s new and different to the usual haunts and it’s fun to give you guys a mix of reviews. So for my best friend’s birthday, my natural inclination was to go there prior to heading to the club. Now… That did not go to plan which you can find out about here.

So we had a bad experience where the digital appointment checklist didn’t correlate to the in house appointments because the kitchen and cocktails were finished by the start of our meal, so they had to almost rush a meal out of the situation and the experience wasn’t the birthday I had in mind. The Ivy did apologize profusely about the mix-up and offered us a phone call and promised to make up for it, so we decided to go for a family thing where my mum wanted to chill out. We also wanted to grab some cocktails so went to Browns which is another Brighton haunt you guys can check out.

So my family ordered the eggs, my mums partner added some steak and got the usual meat things, which I thought might be worth checking out because as I’ve been adding to this list, I have vegan options that you can grab in the recipe list. Check out my new cauli steak here. They thoroughly enjoyed it. My mum also gets a cocktail called the Royale which is a champagne mix with rose syrup and other bits, it’s not my cup of tea but there you go.

The experience was fantastic, the waiters were on point and there was no mix-up, so the whole thing redeemed itself for full Agitprop approval. I ordered a sort of vegetarian halloumi version of a prawn cocktail, with avocado and an assortment of sauces and I just had the cheese removed. It was covered in pomegranate and guac and was delish. My sister had the mozzarella which is mega creamy and we had a great day.

An average starter or side would cost £5-7, a meal could cost £11-20. Deserts £6-8. Cocktails £6-10. We also ventured to Browns as mentioned and grabbed some other delicious bits below. Wait for the cocktail recipes coming.
